Reposted from CBS LA

Nonprofit organization Altadena Musicians on Saturday May 30th, opened up their record shop, which is offering free shopping for victims of the Eaton Fire on the last Saturday of every month.

An Altadena group had a record-breaking idea to help wildfire victims, and so far it’s been a hit. Nonprofit group, Altadena Musicians, has just launched its record shop at Altadena Music Center. Today, Eaton [and Palisades] fire victims got a chance to dig through the crates and take home some of the thousands of vinyl records people have donated. The record shop is offering free shopping for people impacted by the fire on the last Saturday of every month (by appointment only).

“It just makes me feel really emotional. I look at the people and I see the smiles on their faces and I see them connecting with each other and talking and having a good time. And we didn’t know each other before. There’s something really magical and special about that,” said organization founder Brandon Jay.

“It’s really fun. I’ve already found some of the stuff that I had that i lost in the fire, which was cool. some of my favorite stuff,” said a shopper at the grand opening event. “It’s really neat to be able to have the local community, like coming together and trying to help us get back to where we were in certain parts of our lives that we really liked.”

“To feel that sort of small-town spirit and familial spirit is really special and important.”
