A Symphony of Support: Bertrand’s and Altadena Musicians Aid Fire-Impacted Musicians

The wildfires that swept through our foothill communities left more than scorched earth and damaged homes. They struck at the cultural soul of our region, displacing countless musicians—and with them, the tools of their craft. Instruments were lost. Livelihoods paused. Music silenced.
But in the ashes, a new harmony is rising.
Bertrand’s Music Store in Pasadena, a beloved institution with a deep commitment to musicians of all ages, has joined forces with Altadena Musicians to collect, repair, and redistribute instruments to those affected by the fires.
A Community’s Call to Action
The idea began simply: What if we could help musicians rebuild—one instrument at a time?
With their expert repair staff and central location, Bertrand’s became a hub for donated instruments. Altadena Musicians, already connected to the creative heartbeat of the area, took on the task of outreach—identifying musicians in need and ensuring each donation found the right hands.
Donors from across the region have dropped off everything from dusty trumpets and vintage violins to well-loved guitars. Each donation holds a story—and the promise of a new beginning. Bertrand’s technicians lovingly restore each instrument, bringing them back to life.
More Than Just Instruments
This is about more than gear. It’s about expression. Healing. Belonging.
For many artists, their instruments are extensions of self—a means to process emotion, build identity, and connect with others. The loss of an instrument is not just logistical—it’s deeply personal. And the act of receiving one back, through the care of community, is a profound gesture of solidarity.
Altadena Musicians is not only distributing instruments—they’re helping rebuild careers and connections, offering guidance, and linking artists to resources and networks that can support their journey forward.
A Testament to the Power of Music and Community
This collaboration is a reminder of what binds us: creativity, compassion, and the will to show up for each other.
Together, Bertrand’s and Altadena Musicians are turning loss into momentum—ensuring that music continues to echo through our canyons, concert halls, and living rooms. The instruments may be old. The songs, new. The spirit, unwavering.
