FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 20, 2026
Full-Day Event on May 30 Features Free Shopping (SOLD OUT), Live DJs, Vendors, and a Call for Record Donations
Altadena, CA – After the devastating 2025 LA fires left thousands of musicians without their instruments and cherished record collections, Altadena Musicians —a nonprofit dedicated to restoring the power of music to those impacted by natural disasters—is inviting the community to its Record Shop Open House & Record Drive on Saturday, May 30, 2026. From 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the public can celebrate the shop’s launch, enjoy live music, and donate records to help restock the shelves for fire-affected residents.
The day will include a sold-out free shopping session for verified fire survivors (1:00 PM–5:00 PM) and a Grand Opening Launch Party (6:00 PM–9:00 PM) with live DJs, vendors, and food. Record donations will be accepted all day to ensure the shop can continue supporting the community in the months ahead.
Record Drive: Rebuilding Collections Together

Time: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Location:< 1260 Lincoln Ave #1300, Pasadena, CA 91103 – visit altadenamusicians.org for updates
“Losing a record collection can be even harder to get over than losing an instrument,” says Altadena Musicians founder Brandon Jay. “A record collection is something you work on your whole lifetime—from the first album you ever received as a gift or saved up for, to the ones autographed by friends or bands you love. While we can’t replace entire collections, giving fire survivors even a handful of records for free is a meaningful gesture.”
To ensure continued support, the Record Shop will offer recurring free shopping for fire-affected individuals on the last Saturday of every month, beginning June 27, 2026 (12:00 PM – 4:00 PM). Record donations are critical to making this possible.
Grand Opening Launch Party: A Night of Music, Community, and Recovery

Location: 1260 Lincoln Ave #1300, Pasadena, CA 91103

The public is invited to celebrate the Record Shop’s debut with a star-studded launch party> featuring live DJ sets from Chris Douridas (KCRW), Jimmy Tamborello (The Postal Service), and Michael Panos. Guests can explore vendor booths from Alta Collective, MusicCares, Creative Workers Rising, and LAist, enjoy 210 Taco’s food truck, and learn more about Instrumental Giving—the organization’s innovative app that connects musicians in need with donors to replace lost gear.
Why This Matters
Altadena Musicians’ mission is clear: to restore the inspiring power of music to those impacted by natural disasters, especially young and emerging artists, by placing instruments, gear, and resources back into their hands. After the fires, they launched Instrumental Giving, a tax-deductible registry app where musicians can list the gear they lost, and donors can purchase items directly—like a wedding registry for musicians. The Record Shop builds on this effort, offering a physical space for healing, connection, and rebuilding through music.
With the free shopping event already sold out, record donations are now more important than ever to ensure the shop can continue serving fire-affected community members in the months ahead.
